Microlights, Ultralights, Trikes, Ultralight Trikes and Hang Gliders.

Airborne specialise in the design and manufacture of ultralights (also called, microlights, trikes or ultralight trikes) and hang gliders, for the serious adventure aviation enthusiast.

Airborne Microlights
Choose from a variety of aircraft including the top of the range XT-912 Tundra, the latest and most versatile microlight in our range. Feel confident when you fly, choose a certified aircraft. Our aircraft are certified to Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements. They are also approved to UK, German, French, South African and Israeli standards and are approved through these standards in most countries throughout the world. Our design's are tested to 6g positive and 3g negative. That's a massive 2500kgs+ or 5511+ pounds in load applied to the wing for the positive test. Other test requirements include landing load, deceleration and weld testing. The Airborne factory is a Civil Aviation Approved facility. We use quality Rotax engines on all Airborne models

Erick Danzer asks the question:
"Can Microlights Save the Rainforest?"

Forest rangers from Gunung Palung National Park prepare for an air patrol in one of the Park's microlight aircraft. These aircraft are the centerpiece of a creative strategy to combat illegal logging that uses microlights to cruise over the forest, locate illegal logging operations and send in armed teams to apprehend loggers.
By 2003, when the microlights were first used, logging in the Park had damaged 50 percent of the Park's forests and forced closure of its Cabang Panti research station. Since adoption of this new strategy, illegal logging has gone from rampant to rare. Elsewhere in Borneo, illegal logging is still at crisis levels. The Center for International Forestry Research has recently reported that 70 percent of timber flowing from Indonesia is now illegal, while the WWF has estimated that most lowland forest in Borneo will be gone by 2010.
Gunung Palung is a jewel of biodiversity. It's 90,000 hectares contain a wider range of habitats than any other protected area in Borneo, including one of the largest remaining areas of undisturbed lowland rainforest.

HG Stop Press... The Sting 3 is now available in two sizes: the 154 and the 168. Check out the reviews in the hang glider section of the web site.

Airborne hang gliders have an enviable reputation around the world for their highly engineered finish, both in the sail work and the airframe. Each model comes in a variety of sizes and performance to suit different pilot weight and experience. Our gliders are constructed from super light weight 7075. From the sand dunes to cloudbase you can rely on Airborne hang gliders for strength and reliabilty.

HG Stop Press 2! Chabre 2009... From Ed Ewing - "Why do I start off with Scott Barrett winning the day? Because it is news! It is news because it is against type, against expectations. It shakes up our view of the world. It isn't supposed to be happening, but it is. This is a guy who has never flown here. He's flying on a glider from the smaller and less celebrated of the two Australian hang gliding companies. He's a designer at that company (and stands in stark contrast to the designer at the other company)..." Scott Barrett and his C4 went on to win the pre-worlds at Chabre
