The Australian dollar has fallen against some of the major currencies. For some overseas customers particulary from the  USA  this represents a discount on our pricing of around 10 pecent. On top of this we are offereing special insentives to overseas buyers to puchase any of our range of microlights over the month of July and August. Last week Luca and Pietro Magni made the big flight (by Airline) from Italy to Australia. They only had 5 full days here so not much time and a lot to do. The boys spent the first day showing us how rotar blade balancing was performed on the recently shipped M24 Orion’s and the M16.

Airborne’s Russell Duncan had pre planned a trip up to Noosa Heads via various airfields where people could demo the Magni’s. The next morning the three Gyro’s left our airfield. The route included fuel stops and took in Port Macquarie, Ballina, Jacobs Well, Caloundra, Noosa …

Airborne’s Russell Duncan had pre planned a trip up to Noosa Heads via various airfields where people could demo the Magni’s. The next morning the three Gyro’s left our airfield. The route included fuel stops and took in Port Macquarie, Ballina, Jacobs Well, Caloundra, Noosa Heads, Dalby, Moree, Gunnedah, and back to Wallsend. The last day finished with a demo day at Maitland where about 50 demo flights took place. The boys then went back to Sydney for their last night and a very early morning flight back home! It was a pretty action packed few days for Luca and Pietro, all up they covered around 1000 miles (1850 kms) in the gyro’s, then a heap more on Emirates airline!

William Olive known to his mates and others as Billo has been a consistant visitor to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The attraction to this remote area at the top end of Australia has mainly been the incredible wave cloud phenomena named the “Morning Glory”. The series of roll clouds form when moisture from onshore seabreezes is evident. The rolling wave can be up to 1000 kms(620mi) long. The wave continues it’s journey inland producing lift in front of the cloud. This lift allows pilot’s of all sorts of aircraft the opportunity to “surf” the cloud for miles inland until it …

The cloud base is usually only 100 – 200 metres (330-660 ft) high and moves at speeds up to 60 kms (37mi) per hour.

Billo with his crew Brett Paull XT 582 and Cruze wing was able to climb up to the cloud and switch off the engine and soar to the world record now at 48.4 Km

We have completed six conversions on customers SST wings this year. We update the airframe, the rears are shorter as the Arrow has less span than the SST. Tubes and hardware are inspected and replaced where necessary. A brand new Arrow sail is added to the airframe. Once completed the wing looks as new. It is then off to our airfield for the test fly and fine tuning.

The Arrow is getting great reviews both for new and upgraded wings. We have more SST’s arriving early next year for upgrades and expect more owners to take this option. Have a …
